This weekend was really, really nice.
Friday morning my mom called and said she was driving the 7 hours to our place, because she really wanted to go to the baby shower they were having for me and another lady at church. She said I'd understand some day...
Saturday morning we were able to attend liturgy at church, and then we were adopted by one of the families to come over and rest until the shower. Mr. S enjoyed lots of hot tea and a warm bed while, four other ladies and two girls hopped in a van and drove across town to downtown Minneapolis.
The shower was simply overwhelming, as both of us ladies are fairly new to the church, and we were opening presents from ladies with embarrassment as we couldn't even pronounce some of the names. I thought of Mrs. J as they had so much food there, and the ladies were laughing and saying, "Yep, we like to feed people." Just to give you a taste, they roasted a whole turkey! On a side note, these ladies seriously know how to run bake sales and church dinners. They make hundreds of loaves of bread and thousands of dollars.
Then, our whole family was adopted again, as we were whisked off to another families' home for dinner, warm conversation, and flannel sheets so as not to have to drive back and forth for church on Sunday.
Needless, to say we are feeling very loved and the hospitality we received was truly amazing! We were practically strangers, and we were taken in.
